I've always admired Gerrit Rietveld's furniture designs. His last furniture commission was for the Steltman Jeweler in The Hague in 1963. The original Steltman chairs were rectilinear, and paired so that a young couple could come into the store and choose their wedding rings. My version is  the basic form but with tapering curves and a sculpted seat. Both chairs are fabricated from book matched highly figured California Claro Walnut.
